Q1. How do I set up Safe Children Parental Control?

Setting up Safe Children Parental Control is as easy as using it. It takes only a few seconds. The app works on two different modes: Parent Mode and Child Mode. But foremost, you need to install the app on both your and your child’s device from the Google Play Store.

For Parent’s device .

Step 1: Open Safe Children Parental Control.

Step 2: Choose Parent Mode.

Step 3: Create a new account by entering the name, mobile number, email ID, and password.

Step 4: Create a Data Protection Password. Confirm by re-entering the same password. Add a hint so that you do not forget your password. Tap Set Password.

Step 5: Tap Mail Me to send a copy of your set password to your email ID.

Note: Please refer to FAQ no. 9 and 10 to know about the Data Protection Password in detail.

Step 6: Your profile is successfully created. Now, you can add your children to this device and remotely check their activities.

For Child’s device,.

Step 1: Open Safe Children Parental Control.

Step 2: Choose Child Mode.

Step 3: Read the agreement and tap I Agree.

Step 4: To log in, enter the email ID and password used for the parent account. OR log in through the QR code which is accessible through the parent profile.

Note: Go to the parent profile, get the QR code, and scan it to successfully log in to your child’s device.

Step 5: Allow all permissions.

Step 6: Activate device administrators, permit drawing over other apps, and give accessibility permission. Grant all of them to proceed.

Step 7: Enter your Data Protection Password and tap Continue.

Step 8: Select your child and tap Continue. Your child’s device is now ready.

Q2. On which platforms is Safe Children Parental Control accessible?

Safe Children Parental Control is accessible on the following platforms:

Android (5.0- Lollipop and above) – Parent Mode and Child Mode.

Web browser - View child's location, alerts, reports, and settings.

Q3. How can I obtain QR code for my child’s device?

When you install Safe Children Parental Control on the parent device and register for the first time, a QR code is generated for your child’s phone. By scanning this QR code, you can easily log into your child’s device. Follow these steps to find the QR code.

Step 1: Go to the Parent dashboard.

Step 2: On the tab bar, tap Profile. You will find the QR code.

Q4. My child has the QR code. Can I generate a new one? Should I be worried?

Yes, it is possible to generate a new QR code whenever you feel that it has been disturbed or compromised. .

Step 1: Go to the Parent dashboard.

Step 2: Under the Profile tab, find the QR code.

Step 3: Tap on Generate new QR code.

Note: Even if your child has the QR code, he/she will not be able to log into the parent’s profile. Therefore, there is nothing to be worried about.

Q5. How do I link my child's phone?

Linking your child’s phone to the parent device is quite easy. Follow the steps below:

Step 1: Install & Open Safe Children Parental Control on your child’s Android device.

Step 2: Choose CHILD MODE.

Step 3: Read the agreement and tap I Agree.

Step 4: To log in, enter the email ID and password used for the parent account. OR log in through the QR code accessible from the parent profile.

Note: Go to parent profile, get the QR code, and scan it to log in to the child’s device.

Step 5: Allow all permissions.

Step 6: Activate device administrators, permit drawing over other apps, and give accessibility permission. Grant them to proceed.

Step 7: Enter your Data Protection Password and tap Continue.

Step 8: Select your child and tap Continue. Your child’s device is now ready.

Q6. I don’t remember my password. Is there a way to get it back?

There is no need to worry. You can easily set a new password if you forget the previous one. Follow the steps below:

Step 1: Tap on Forgot Password on the login page.

Step 2: Enter your registered email address and click Send.

Step 3: You will receive a one-time password (OTP) on your registered email address.

Step 4: Enter the OTP, type a new password, and confirm it. Tap Change Password. And you are done!.

Q7. How do I add my child on the app?

As you log in to the parent profile for the first time, Safe Children Parental Control will automatically lead you to the ‘Add a Child’ screen. Enter all the details of your child, and your child will be added. However, you can also add your children from the parent dashboard.

Step 1: Go to the Parent dashboard.

Step 2: Tap the plus icon in the top right corner of the screen.

Step 3: On the next screen, enter the details of your child and tap Continue.

Q8. Can I edit my child’s profile?

You can easily edit your child’s profile from the Parent dashboard.

Step 1: Go to the Parent dashboard.

Step 2: Tap on the icon next to your child’s name. It resembles a pencil.

Step 3: Edit the details and click on Update to save the changes.

Q9. What is a Data Protection Password or DPP?

Safe Children Parental Control considers the safety and security of your child's data very seriously. DPP is an encrypted password. The purpose of the Data Protection Password is to protect the privacy of your child’s digital data while it is stored on our servers or sent to your device using the internet.

All the information or data of your child is encrypted and protected by an encryption key known as the Data Protection Password or DPP (set by the parent). All data can only be viewed in its original format when it is decrypted with the correct Data Protection Password. .

Note: Please refer to FAQ no. 10 for further details.

Q10. I do not remember my DPP. Can I reset it?

If you forgot your DPP, you can simply use the hint to recall it. In case, if you have mailed the DPP to your registered email address, you can retrieve it from there too.

But still, if in case, you fail to recall it, there are two methods in which you can reset your Data Protection Password.

Method 1: From the DPP Screen.

When you enter the wrong DPP on the Data Protection Password screen, you will automatically be redirected to an Incorrect Password pop-up.

Step 1: If you can easily recall your password using the hint you entered or retrieve it from your email ID, tap Try Again, and if you cannot recall it, tap Reset Now.

Step 2: Enter your new password. Re-enter the same password to confirm it. Add a hint so that you can recall your password when needed. Tap Set Password.

Step 3: A Reset DPP Warning will pop-up reminding that when you tap Reset Now all the child’s data that was previously stored on our servers will be deleted. If you want to proceed, tap on it.

Step 4: Your new DPP will be successfully set. Tap Mail Me to send a copy of your password to your registered email ID.

Method 2: From the Parent Profile.

Step 1: Go to the Parent dashboard.

Step 2: On the tab bar at the bottom, tap on Profile and then on Reset Data Protection Password.

Step 3: Enter your new password. Re-enter the same password to confirm it. Add a hint so that you can recall your password later on. Tap Set Password.

Step 4: A Reset DPP Warning will pop-up reminding that when you tap Reset Now all child’s data that was previously stored on our servers will be deleted. If you want to proceed, tap on it.

Step 5: Your new DPP will be successfully set. Tap Mail Me to send a copy of your password to your email ID.

Note 1: For security purposes, we do not save your DPP anywhere on our server. Therefore, we highly recommend you to mail a copy of your DPP to your registered email ID so that in case if you forget it, you can always retrieve it from there.

Note 2: Every time you reset your DPP, you will end up losing all your child’s data previously stored on our server.

Q11. I am asked to verify my DPP every time I log in. Why is it needed?

The main purpose of the Data Protection Password (DPP) is to protect and secure your child’s data while it is stored on our servers or sent to your device through the internet. DPP is designed to ensure that your sensitive data remains in encrypted form and you are the only one who can decrypt it by entering the correct password.

Safe Children Parental Control asks you to verify your Data Protection Password (DPP) every time you log in to the parent mode or child mode because we do not save it anywhere on our servers.

This is why, we highly recommend you to mail a copy of your DPP to your registered email ID so that in case if you forget it, you can always retrieve it easily from there.

Q12. I have reset my Data Protection Password (DPP). But now I am no longer able to get my child’s current location on my Dashboard. Also, The ‘Find my location’ feature under Anti-Theft is not working.

Every time you reset your Data Protection Password (DPP) on the parent device, it is automatically updated on your child’s device. But sometimes, due to poor data connectivity or any other technical flaws, the new DPP may fail to sync on your child’s device. To fix this issue, follow the steps given below:

Step 1: Go to the child's dashboard.

Step 2: In Settings, tap on Data Protection Password and enter the new DPP manually.

Step 3: Wait for a couple of minutes and verify your child’s location.

Q13. How do I delete my account?

Step 1: Go to the Parent dashboard.

Step 2: On the tab bar at the bottom, tap on Profile followed by Manage Account.

Step 3: Here, tap on Delete Account.

Note: If you choose to delete your account, you will permanently lose your profile and all previously stored child’s data.

Features & Settings

Q1. What is the Parent dashboard?

The Parent dashboard is the home screen from where you can control the entire application. It is the one-stop place where you can add children, manage and enable settings (panic, block app install, magic mode, app control, screen-time and anti-Theft), receive a panic alert, view current location, reports and requests.

Note: You need to create an account to access your Safe Children Parental Control dashboard.

Q2. How do I go through my child’s report?

Follow the steps given below.

Step 1: Go to the Parent dashboard.

Step 2: Identify your child whose reports you want to view.

Step 3: Tap on Reports.

Q3. How do I view my child’s location?

Step 1: Go to the Parent dashboard.

Step 2: Identify your child whose location you want to check.

Step 3: Tap on Location to get his/her current geographical location on the map.

Q4. How to fix GPS settings for receiving correct location on Safe Children Parental Control App?

Step 1: In the Settings menu, go to the child device.

Step 2: Select ‘Security & Lock Screen’ and find Location settings.

Step 3: Tap on Location and make sure GPS is enabled. If yes, then click on Google Location Accuracy and confirm if Improve Location Accuracy is enabled (high accuracy).

Step 4: If both settings are correctly configured, then check the current location on Google Maps to identify if it is fetching the correct status.

Q5. How does the panic alert feature work?
The panic alert feature on the parent’s device and the SOS button on the child’s screen works in association with each other. Whenever your child presses or taps on the SOS button, you will receive a panic alert on the dashboard and on your registered email id with the current geographical location of your child.

Q6. Who will receive the Panic Alert Email?

The panic Alert email is triggered with the Parent’s email address as primary ID, and other contacts are marked in CC.

Note: All email addresses are visible in the alert mail.

Q7. Is there a limit on the number of guardians for Panic Alert?

Yes, there is a limit of 5 contacts for Panic Alert.

Q8. How do I block apps on my child’s phone?
Follow the steps below: .

Step 1: Go to the Parent dashboard.

Step 2: Identify or select your child for whom you want to block apps.

Step 3: Go to Settings and tap on App Control. Safe Children Parental Control will display a list of all applications installed on the child's device.

Step 4: To Enable settings, turn on the toggle button.

Step 5: Tap on the lock icon visible on the right-hand side of the app you want to block.

Step 6: Tap Apply to save your settings.

Note: To make this feature work, your child should be linked to your device first.

Q9. How do I limit my children from downloading unwanted apps?

Safe Children Parental Control allows the parent to limit children from downloading a new application.

Step 1: Go to the Parent dashboard.

Step 2: Identify or select your child for whom you want to block new app downloads.

Step 3: Go to Settings and tap on Block App Install. Turn the toggle button ‘ON’ to Enable setting. It will block the Google Play Store on your child’s device.

Note: To make this feature work, your child should be linked to your device first.

Q10. What is Magic Mode?

The Magic mode in Safe Children Parental Control is a feature that allows the parent to control almost everything on the child’s device. It enables parents to specify particular apps and activities children may use on their devices. They will be able to access only the authorized activities specified by the parent.

To enable Magic Mode, follow the steps below. .

Step 1: Go to the Parent dashboard.

Step 2: Identify or select the child for whom you want to enable this mode and go to Settings.

Step 3: Tap Magic Mode.

Step 4: As you Enable this setting, it will lock everything on the child’s device.

Step 5: Next, tap on the lock icon visible on the right-hand side of each app and unlock the ones you want to allow.

Step 6: Now, go to your child’s device. Tap on the Home button and set Safe Children Parental Control as its default launcher.

Q11. Can I set game time on my child’s phone?

Yes! Safe Children Parental Control has a Screen Time feature that lets you set a timetable or time limit for how long your child can use the phone to play games. Follow the steps below. .

Step 1: Go to the Parent dashboard.

Step 2: Tap on the child for whom you want to set game time and go to Settings.

Step 3: Tap Time Schedule.

Step 4: To Enable this setting, turn the toggle button ‘ON’. Now, tap on Games.

Step 5: Turn the toggle button ‘ON’. Set Start Time and End Time to configure your child’s game time. Choose Repeat days to follow the same schedule for all the days.

Step 6: Tap Apply.

Q12. My child’s device is lost. Is there a way Safe Children Parental Control can help to find it?

Yes! Safe Children Parental Control can also help you find or locate your child’s device on the map when you cannot find it. Follow the steps below. .

Step 1: Go to the Parent dashboard.

Step 2: Tap on the child whose device you want to search and go to Settings.

Step 3: Under the Settings menu, find the option of Anti-Theft and tap on it. The Location Tracker feature will help you find your child’s phone using GPS.

Note: This feature works only if the location service is pre-enabled on your child’s device.

Q13. I want to view and control my child’s activities from more than one device. Is it possible?

No, it is not possible. You can install Safe Children Parental Control and log in to your account from a single device only. If you try to log in from a different device, you will automatically get logged out of the previous one.

But you are free to view all reports and settings that you have applied on your child’s device simply by logging into our Web Portal from multiple systems.

Q14. I have set bedtime for my child, but he/she is still able to use his/her phone. Why?

One of the most popular Screen Time features among parents, bedtime has been introduced to help you give your child a good night sleep. But sometimes when you enable this feature, it may not work properly on your child’s phone. This may happen because of some of the following reasons:

a. Poor or fluctuating internet connection or no data connectivity.

You need to have active internet connections on both devices at all times if you wish to access this feature properly. If the connectivity is lost or low or turned off, whatever settings you apply during this period will not be applicable on your child’s phone. No data will be synchronized and no report will be generated. This can be one of the reasons why the bedtime didn’t work on your child’s device.

b. Data did not sync properly.

Data may not have synchronized properly on your child’s device. Not to worry. This one can be fixed easily. Go to the settings icon on the child’s dashboard and tap on Refresh Now. All your settings will get synchronized.

Q15. My child is able to play games even after game hours. Why? Also, My child is able to use social and media apps even after the set time schedule. Why?

This happens because sometimes when you enable game time, social app time, education app time, media app time or any other app time schedule, changes may not be applied or reflect on your child’s phone immediately. This may happen because of the following possible reasons:

a. Poor or fluctuating internet connection or no data connectivity.

You need to have active internet connections on both devices at all times. If the connectivity is lost or low or turned off, whatever settings you apply during this period will not be applicable on your child’s phone. No data will be synchronized and hence no report will be generated.

b. Data did not sync properly.

Data may not have synchronized properly on your child’s device. Not to worry. This one can be fixed easily. Go to the settings icon on the child’s dashboard and tap on Refresh Now. All your settings will get synchronized.

Q16. What is the App Screen Time?

App Screen Time is a fantastic feature on the app that limits child’s app time to a couple of hours by creating app groups. These app groups can be created based on the similar categories of apps, child’s schedule , or groups based on the level of child’s addiction to the apps. The child will only be able to use apps for a certain hours on scheduled days.

Q17. What are App Groups?

An App Group consists of similar or dissimilar apps that can be used for the time limits decided by the parents to reduce excessive time spent on those apps.

Q18. How many groups can parents create?

There are no restrictions on the number of groups. Parents can create as many groups as they want. .

Q19. Can a single app overlap in more than one app group?

No! A single app can be a part of only one group as one app cannot have more than one rule defined.

Q20. Can a child request for time extension on certain apps?

Yes! A child can request for time extension for a group of apps. Currently, a child can only request for - 15, 30, 45 and 60 minutes of time extension.

Q21. If time is extended once, does the Settings change permanently?

No, the setting remains the same for other days. Time extension is a temporary setting, applicable only for the same day of request.

Q22. Can a parent edit an App Group?

Yes, a parent can edit as well as delete an App Group.

Q23. How do I disable restrictions on my child’s phone?

Follow the steps below. .

Step 1: Go to the Child dashboard.

Step 2: Tap on the menu button (three dots) at the top right corner of your child’s device.

Step 3: Now from the drop down list, select Disable Restriction.

Step 4: Enter the credentials used while registering the account and tap continue.

Important: The restriction will be lifted only for 2 minutes.

Q24. How to check the app version?

On Parent device:

Swipe right or tap on the navigation drawer icon in the upper-left corner and then tap on the “i” icon to go to the “About Us” screen.

On Child device:

On the Child Dashboard, tap on the 3 dots in the upper-right corner.

The Version will be listed in the bottom-right corner of the pop-up window.
